The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Hoping For
It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons car everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.
The Dream Vehicle
Although most gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer built himself in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
But that's not the sole cosmetic from the series coming to the game. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a press release, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"
Although the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
If the key art is any indication, it seems fans will also get rims with a TV showing the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
This event lines up with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
